Can't print to HP Envy 114 printer on F26
For the first time in many Fedora versions, printing doesn't just work out of the box :-(
I have a all-in-one HP Envy 114 printer/scanner. System configuration seems to find the printer just fine on the network, and apparently chooses the right driver (CUPS driver by default). If I try to print anything, it just stands forever on the print queue, and the printer state turns to "idle - can't detect file type".
For the record I installed HPLIP because, at least until F25, it was the only way to make Simple Scan recognize my printer.
If I switch the driver to hpijs, printer state now turns to "idle - filter failed" when I try to print a test page. If I use system-config-printer and try to print a "self-test page", it prints a paper saying "if you can read this, you are using the wrong driver for your printer".
So, I am lost here, any help will be much appreciated. Anyone managed to successfully configure this same (or a similar) printer?
I'm stuck with the same problem.
I have an old HP Photosmart C4280 connected through USB and a HP Deskjet 4646 connected through WiFi. The scanner works flawlessly for both but I can't print anything.
This started with the upgrade from F25 to F26. There is something wrong with the HP driver or CUPS.
I've already tried to reinstall the printers, the drivers, CUPS and print libraries but nothing helped.
I am having the same problem with HP Officejet Pro 8610, hpcups 3.17.4. No problem with Fedora 25, now with FC26, I get the same message at printer status: Idle - Can't detect file type. My other printer, Canon PIXMA MG6420 - CUPS+Gutenprint v5.2.12, works fine, as it did on FC25. I have tried deleting the printer and reinstalling, tried changing drivers, tried every thing I can find thru research, nothing works.
Additional information regarding this problem: I have another FC26 computer, i686, setup exactly like the X86_64. The i686 running the same drivers, etc. prints fine to the HP Officejet Pro; everything is on a wireless network, computers, printers, all. Why does the i686 machine print?
