After upgrading my Fedora 25 workstation to 26 Gnome/Wayland will lock up my system hard as soon as I enter my login credentials. Upgrade went without a hitch. I have a Nvidia 960 GTX card that was working fine with F25/Wayland/Gnome. It is using the default nouveau driver on Fedora. Just to be clear, I'm not using the proprietary Nvidia driver.

I'm not finding ANYTHING when searching the web. The few stuff that comes close has always been about NEW/CLEAN installs of F26 where they seem to have the same lockup issue during initial setup and the fix was to pass the parameter "nouveau.noaccel=1" during the first boot to allow setup to finish. After that they report the problem fixed.

This doesn't work for me. If I pass that parameter my system doesn't lock but the GUI freezes randomly every 3-5 seconds for 10 seconds or more, making the system unusable.

So right now I have to fallback to X11 to be able to work. Any help with this is appreciated.

Wayland is not 100 percent even in the latest driver that I run, 384.59. I use cinnamon as my DE, since gnome is bloated, old and slow. No issues so far, but not working in Wayland at all. Not sure what the progress is going to be on wayland, so will stick with what works for me.

I am having the same issue as you JHBoricua. I originally thought that this was due to the upgrade but I subsequently did a clean install with the same results. Also as you found, Fedora 25 worked perfectly so there is some sort of regressing in 26. I have been using X11 fallback to get around the issue but there doesn't seem to be much more that can be done at this time other than to submit a bug report.

@jasonehoss, wayland may not have a release ready for F26, so I would not say F26 regressed, but rather wayland is late to the party.
