You should not really use Fedora 11 nor Firefox 17 since both of them are very old and can contain security bugs. Please, give it a try with Fedora 26 and Firefox 54, which are the latest supported versions.

You don't mention what you've tried and what happened. I thought there were updates for the OLPC devices to get to newer Fedora versions.
I assume you've tried "yum install firefox" or "yum upgrade firefox". I don't know what which version of Firefox was available at that time.
I recommend not even trying to get such old, non-supported software up and running. It's prone to security issues.
Yum won't work until you adjust the repo files since repos get moved to archive once the release is End-of-Life.
The mirror manager handles that. On older Fedora releases, it redirects yum to the archives, so everything still works.
