Fedora 26 and proprietary Nvidia
After the upgrade to F26, everything worked, but cinnamon told me it was using software rendering. When I checked dkms status
in terminal, the result showed two driver modules, the old fc25 and the new fc26. I did sudo init 3
, and reinstalled the proprietary and told it to use dkms. After reboot
it came up just fine, and seemed to be slightly faster than fc25. This morning, the kernel updated to 4.11.9 and dkms compiled the new driver module with no problems. The only complaint i still have, and have had, is against the frame buffer issue on kernel boot, and not allowing plymouth splash to load. What seems odd, is the plymouth splash shows on shutdown or restart, but plymouth can not seem to get the initial splash to load.
Regarding plymouth issue, have a look here: gfxpayload
Been there, tried that, got the t-shirt to prove it. added nvidia_drm.modeset=1 and other things suggested on various sites, over the past 8 months, since I started using Fedora.
