Install problems

Hello,

I am trying to install Fedora 25 on a windows 10 laptop however, I cannot get it to work. I first tried to use the Fedora workstation writer but that did not run upon download (tried on two different machines). I then tried to take the live image and convert it into a bootable flash drive. After it boot, a message would appear reading "No caching mode page found, assuming drive cache: write through" then nothing would happen. From what I read, it may be the USB drive.

Can someone help? Thank you!

Are you using the latest MediaWriter?

I got my USB boot drive to work but I dont want to leave you unanswered.

I was using the latest mediawriter and on both machines it would not run after install. Even after a reboot and reinstall.

Hi, could you give some more informations about how did you create the USB live suppport and your laptop model? Look for unetbootin, or lili usb creator...I don't know if this help.

Hey,

The laptop is just a Windows 10 HP laptop. Nothing crazy, I just had it sitting around. As for how I created the drive, I used the 64-bit live image direct download, then used unetbootin to create the bootable flash.

In my experience, USB live sticks created with unetbootin (well, any Winblows based live usb creator) only work about 60% of the time, you could try Rufus or better yet, spin up a Linux VM and use it's terminal to create the stick with dd command. It has to be unmounted first "umount /dev/sdb1" or whatever you stick would be and run with root priviledges, for example "sudo dd if=/path/to/imageyoudownloaded,iso of=/your/stick bs=1M"

use another app to extract iso image such as rufus , universal usbinstaller , power iso ,WoeUSB app .... if still not working ....then go to bios setup .....and select legacy mode instead of uefi mode.... hope it helps....
