How do I develop an app that makes use of my webcam: Logitech 400?

I have a logitech web cam, i can use in cheese, but in another apps like amsn it doesn't not work, i'm developing an app that uses the camera, but when i try to open it, in /var/log/messages i get this:

What can i do?

You should look at the cheese source, which would probably give you an idea on how to use the camera correctly?

The above lines only tell us that your application is crashing. Since abrt doesn't know what to do with the coredump, it just ignores it. Run your program in gdb or valgrind and go about debugging it using the stack trace.

Please be aware that this isn't a Fedora related question. It's more a programming/API related question that should be posted on the relevant mailing list.
