Packages And Method of Installation
How one, can check with which method (rpm, dnf, Software GUI) has installed the packages ?
The reason is, from what i read, that is preferable to use dnf. So i would like to check if there are packages installed from GUI or rpm, unistall them, and re-install them with dnf.
The GUI is simply a shell, that runs the dnf command. It really makes no difference, I have used GUI and dnf and they both achieve the same results.
No, Gnome Software does not use dnf. A simple proof: Install something with Gnome Software and take a look at "dnf history". You won't find the installation in dnf history. However, I agree that it does not make sense removing packages with one method and install them again with a different method. In the end the packages are installed (using rpm), and a package installed with Gnome Software does not behave different than the same package installed with dnf.
running Cinnamon desktop. When I use the gui package manger, the dnf history shows an entry, but the name is blank. think it is a bug, but the gui does update dnf history. I do like command line, versus gui, mainly because I feel more in control. I hate windows for hiding command line, and if Blizzard ever comes with a linux client for World of Warcraft, I will never boot windows again.
