I'm trying to test out.
Fedora Design spin.
on virtualbox 4.1, installed on a unbuntu 10.10 host.
I turned up the display setting to the max [128mb], ram set for 1.8g.
won't run the full gnome3 DE, but is on fallback.
I don't see any way to install, so I am only able to run live.
this probably has something to do with being on the fallback DE.

How do I do a full install?

you need do some step in the guest (fedora), be sure your system is up to date :

   yum update
   sudo grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg
   reboot

be sure in the grub2 menu you select the latest kernel...

  1. Install following packages need for instal guest addition...

yum install gcc kernel-devel kernel-headers

2.- Install Guest Additions

The procedure is very simple. Just boot into your guest. Then, in the VirtualBox menu, under Devices, click Install Guest Additions...

3.- Disable Selinux /etc/selinux/config this is the reason because you always login as a fallback mode:

sudo nano /etc/selinux/config

and be sure look like this :

# This file controls the state of SELinux on the system.
# SELINUX= can take one of these three values:
# enforcing - SELinux security policy is enforced.
# permissive - SELinux prints warnings instead of enforcing.
# disabled - SELinux is fully disabled.
SELINUX=disabled
# SELINUXTYPE= type of policy in use. Possible values are:
# targeted - Only targeted network daemons are protected.
# strict - Full SELinux protection.
SELINUXTYPE=targeted

4. Reboot guest system

  1. restart GNOME3:

gnome-shell --replace &

And Voilla ! It works !

P.S : be sure that 128mb in display and 3d support...
