Hi all,

I use the /dev/ttyusb to connect to an external controller board. This works quite well for one time. As soon as I disconnect the usb port and reconnect it the software can not find the /dev/ttyusb any more even though the /dev/ttyusb is present. I have to reboot the laptop and it works again. I use Fedora 17.

How can I check the ttyusb if it is running or can I restart anything without reboot?

Thanks in advance

Joerg

My USB to serial adapter seems to assign itself a new device node when unplugged and immediately plugged back in. /dev/ttyUSB0 might be configured in the application, but the device is now accessed as /dev/ttyUSB1 . Could this be your issue? Try ls /dev/ttyUSB*
