How do I rip a cd to flac

I am currently running Fedora 25 KDE spin. I have k3b and SoundKonverter installed, both of which should be capable of ripping a cd to flac format. However that isn't an option. Am I missing codecs or plugins or something that will get me flac files. They will both rip to ogg, but I want flac. Sound Juicer used to do that but it doesn't seem to be available.

Just to follow up. I solved this, but I'm not sure how exactly. The problem seemed to be missing packages. I was looking at cdparanoia and found a list of front-ends for cdparanoia and arbitrarily clicked on something called ripperX. That led to an rpm on SourceForge, which I downloaded and installed. Dnf wanted to install about half a dozen packages as dependancies and somewhere in those packages, I think, lies the fix. Unfortunately I don't remember what packages those were. Nothing in list jumped out at me at the time. RipperX didn't bring up any album information when I fired it up, so I went back to K3b. This time K3b showed me a scrollable list in the dropdown format menu and flac was there. Previously it only showed me two formats, ogg and wav, but now it knows about a bunch of different formats, including flac.

You can try abcde (A Better CD Encoder), available in the Fedora repos.:

$ sudo dnf install abcde

It can rip to many different formats, including flac, and also do it in one pass. It's command line based, but you can setup config files to help automate ripping. If you do some Googling, you can even find where some people have posted config files that they use so you don't have to start from scratch.

Hope this helps!
