Touchpad problems

Hello all!

I have this problem: In all my users (including root), touchpad dies after some minutes, or some seconds, at random. When I restart via Ctrl+Alt+Backspace, it works well again. Untill it dies again. If I use a mouse as a pointing device, I have almost no problem. It happens in all my desktop (KDE, Cinnamon and Gnome 3), on Fedora 16, in an Intel netbook (Atom N450 @1.66GHz, 1GB RAM).

How can I know if this is a hardware or a software problem? Somebody have any idea of how to fix it?

Thanks very much!

I always boot into various live CDs to rule out hardware issues. Try an older Fedora and an Ubuntu. If the problem happens there it is probably hardware related. If it doesn't then it could be an issue with the touchpad module or maybe Xorg.
