How can I make shortcuts/links to things to the Desktop (cant seem to click desktop or anything)?

is it possible to add custom links in the Gnome 3 favorites and applications (I installed Teamspeak 3 for linux but that pretty much just decompress a folder for me)

and lastly how can I make it so some devices are mounted on startup? (I currently have to browse files and navigate to the HDDs to mount them on system start)

Any help is greatly appreciated!

your sincerely Natherul

Welcome Natherul! It helps if you can break up distinct questions into different posts. (There's no harm in posting several times in a row.) That way, if someone knows the answer to just one thing, or worse is right on one thing but gives mistaken information for another, we can vote appropriately.

Hi

1) Read this entry also you can enable make shortcuts in the desktop, if you install dconf-editor you can enable the desktop.

How to enable desktop in Fedora

image description

su -c 'yum -y install dconf-editor'

After installing dconf-editor, click alt+f2 and type:

dconf-editor

On the left handside panel expand: org->gnome->desktop and click on "Background"

On the right hand side enable the "Show-Desktop-Icons"

2) how to mount hd devices or partitions , without authentication

su

sudo gedit /usr/share/polkit-1/actions/org.freedesktop.udisks.policy

image description

Looking for line 30 that is dependent on "org.freedesktop.udisks.filesystem-mount-system-internal"

<allow_active>auth_admin_keep</allow_active>

And replace it with

<allow_active>yes</allow_active>

Save

Crtl + s

close

enjoy!

Oh — don't edit the policy under /usr/share/ — instead, there's /etc/polkit-1/localauthority/.

Those files are priority-ordered subdirectorectories into which you drop your files. Put yours in 50-local.d since it's a local modification, but it doesn't really matter.
